Merchant Privacy Notice

This Affitto Merchant Privacy Notice (the “Merchant Notice”) describes how Affitto Solutions, Inc. (“Affitto”) collects and uses personal data when you, or the company you represent, use any of Affitto’s merchant services (the “Merchant Services”). It also describes your rights in relation to our use of your personal data, and how to exercise them.

"We", "our" or "us" means Affitto Solutions, Inc. 933 Seymour Street Vancouver, British Columbia V6B 6L6. For the purposes of Canadian data protection law, we are a data controller in respect of the personal data we receive from you, or otherwise collect about you, and we are responsible for ensuring that we use your personal data in compliance with applicable data protection laws.


  • Personal data is information which may identify you either directly or indirectly, and also includes any information concerning your company if you are unincorporated.

 1. Other Affitto privacy notices

 Please note that separate privacy notices may apply for specific campaigns or offers which are temporarily available, or for certain specific services. Such separate notices are available in connection to such separate initiatives. You may also contact us using the information in Section 9 below if you want a copy of one of those separate privacy notices. 

2. What personal data do we collect?

Information you give us. You may give us information about yourself or your company when you use the Merchant Services, or when you contact us. Depending on the Merchant Service you choose to use, this information may be:


  • Contact- and identification information – company name, name, date of birth, national ID number, title, address, email address, mobile phone number etc.

  • Payment information – information to enable payments, such as bank account number.


You may at any time change your information, such as your contact details and other editable settings. Depending on your country, this can be done within certain Merchant Services (such as the Merchant Portal), or by contacting us.

Information we collect about you. When you use the Merchant Services we may collect the following information:


  • Contact- and identification information – company name, name, date of birth, national ID number, title, address, email address, mobile phone number etc.

  • Information on goods/services – details about the product or services you offer to consumers.

  • Financial information – company turnover, potential credit commitments, negative payment remarks etc.

  • Information about the interaction between you and Affitto – how you or your company use the Merchant Services, including technical data such as page response times, download errors, entry and exit methods, click stream, as well as delivery notices when we contact you.

  • Recorded telephone conversations – We record telephone conversations if you call our merchant support.

  • Information about interaction between you and consumers – your dealings with your consumers, such as deliveries or consumer support.

  • Device information – e.g. the IP address, language settings, browser settings, time zone settings, operating system and platform and screen resolution. To learn more about how we may collect information from your device, or store information on your device, please see Section 11 below.

  • Information from external sanction lists and PEP lists – we may screen your information against lists of persons subject to sanctions, and lists of persons who are so called Politically Exposed Persons. These lists include information such as name, date of birth, place of birth, occupation or position and reason for being listed.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your information, for the following purposes:


  • Processing in order to be able to provide the Merchant Services, for example to respond to your inquiries, and for other client service purposes.

  • Product improvement and research, for example in order to make improvements and respond to user desires and preferences, and for other research and analytical purposes, through the use of automated devices and applications.

  • Compliance and to protect Affitto from claim, for example access and usage logs.

  • To provide marketing and offers to you, regarding for example additional Merchant Services.

4. Who might we share personal data with?

When providing our Merchant Services, we may share personal data with the categories of recipients listed below, for the below purposes. Exactly which recipients we share personal data with, and for which purposes, will depend on which Merchant Service you use. In doing so, we take all reasonable contractual, legal, technical, and organisational measures to ensure that your personal data is treated with an adequate level of protection.

Suppliers and subcontractors. Affitto may share personal data with suppliers and subcontractors that we use in order to provide the Merchant Services to the company you represent. Suppliers and subcontractors are companies who are only entitled to process the personal data they receive from Affitto on Affitto's behalf. Examples of such suppliers and subcontractors are software- and data storage providers, payment processing services, and business consultants.

Credit reference agencies. If you apply for a Merchant Service which involves a credit, your personal data or data regarding the company you represent may be shared with credit reporting agencies (“CRAs”), for the following purposes: To assess your company’s, (or, if you are unincorporated, your) credit score in connection with the application for the credit, to confirm your identity- and address information, and protect you and other Affitto customers from fraud. Your telephone number and address may also be shared with the CRA, in order for the CRA to send you a notification that it has done a credit assessment of you. Depending on the rules in the country where you live, a letter of notification may be sent if a credit check is performed, or the letter of notification may be distributed electronically.

Payment behavior may be reported back to the CRA by Affitto, which may affect your future credit score. When a CRA receives a credit application search from us, they may place a footprint on your credit file that may be seen by other lenders.

The CRAs will process the personal data in line with their own privacy notices, and may also create, or add to their own record about you or your company, details of our search and your application.

If we, or a fraud prevention agency, determine that you pose a fraud or money laundering risk, we may refuse to provide the services or financing you have requested, or we may stop providing existing services to you. 

Fraud prevention and identity lookup agencies. Your personal data may be shared with fraud prevention agencies to verify your identity, the accuracy of the data you have provided us with, and to prevent criminal activities. Please note that also the fraud prevention agencies process your data in line with their own privacy notices.

Affitto group. Your information may be shared with companies within the Affitto group.

A person holding a power of attorney of your affairs. Affitto will share your data if we have received a power of attorney from you to the person holding the power of attorney, based on your consent.

Authorities. Affitto may disclose necessary information to authorities such as the police, tax agencies or other authorities if we are required to do so by law, or under some circumstances if you have requested us to do it. An example of legally required disclosure is for purposes of anti-money laundry or to counter terrorist financing.

Debt Collection Agencies. Affitto may share information when selling unpaid debts to third parties, e.g. to debt collection agencies, based on a legitimate interest to conduct its business. The debt collection agencies process the data in line with their own privacy notices.

Divestment. In the event that Affitto sells or buys any business or assets, Affitto may disclose the personal data to the prospective seller or buyer of such business or assets. If Affitto or substantially all of its assets are acquired by a third party, personal data about Affitto's customers may be disclosed and transferred.

Before any disclosure due to a divestment takes place, Affitto will make sure adequate confidentiality obligations are in place.

5. What about cookies and other tracking technologies?

To deliver a tailored and smoooth experience, we use cookies and similar tracking technologies in our Merchant Services. For detailed information about how Affitto uses tracking technologies, please read the applicable cookie statement for each service.

We and our third party service providers use cookies and other tracking mechanisms to track information about your use of our Merchant Services and to track users across unaffiliated sites. We may combine this information with other personal information we collect from you (and our third party service providers may do so on our behalf).

Currently, our systems do not recognize browser “do-not-track” requests. You may, however, disable certain tracking as discussed in this section (e.g., by disabling cookies).

Cookies. Cookies are alphanumeric identifiers that we transfer to your computer’s hard drive through your web browser for record-keeping purposes. Some cookies allow us to make it easier for you to navigate our Merchant Services, while others are used to enable a faster log-in process, or to allow us to track your activities at our Merchant Services. Most web browsers automatically accept cookies, but if you prefer, you can edit your browser options to block them in the future. The Help portion of the toolbar on most browsers will tell you how to do control cookies. Visitors to our Merchant Services who disable cookies will be able to browse certain areas of the Merchant Services, but some features may not function.

Clear GIFs. Clear GIFs are tiny graphics with a unique identifier, similar in function to cookies. In contrast to cookies, which are stored on your computer’s hard drive, clear GIFs are embedded invisibly on web pages. We may use clear GIFs (a.k.a. web beacons, web bugs or pixel tags), in connection with our Merchant Services to, among other things, track the activities of Merchant Services users, help us manage content, and compile statistics about Merchant Services usage.

Third Party Analytics. We may use automated devices and applications to evaluate usage of our Merchant Services. We use these tools to help us improve our Merchant Services, performance and user experiences. These entities may use cookies and other tracking technologies to perform their services. We do not share your personal information with these third parties.

6. Third-Party Links

Our Merchant Services may contain links to third-party websites, including social media sites. Any access to and use of such linked websites is not governed by this policy, but instead is governed by the privacy policies of those third party websites. We are not responsible for the information practices of such third party websites.​

7. Security of My Personal Information

We have implemented safeguards to protect the information we collect from loss, misuse, and unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, and destruction. Please be aware that despite our efforts, no data security measures can guarantee 100% security. You should take steps to protect against unauthorized access to your password, phone, and computer by, among other things, signing off after using a shared computer, choosing a robust password that nobody else knows or can easily guess, not sharing log-in credentials, and keeping your log-in and password private. We are not responsible for any lost, stolen, or compromised passwords or for any activity on your account via unauthorized password activity.

8. Updates to this Merchant Notice

We constantly work to improve our Merchant Service offerings, in order for you to get an even smooother user experience. This includes both changes in existing Merchant Services and new services over time. This notice is current as of the date last updated, set forth above. We may change this notice from time to time. We will post any changes to this Notice here. It’s therefore important that you read this Merchant Notice each time you use a Merchant Service, since the processing of your personal data can differ since you last used it.
